About Nomi

I began working with clients who were struggling with disordered eating because of my own personal experience. I have spent most of my life in a body that is larger than average. After 15+ years on one starvation diet or another, only to be followed by severe bingeing, I was forced to learn how to face what was motivating this cycle. I learned about intuitive (mindful) eating and how to make peace with my larger body. Along with my personal experience, I have many years of professional training and 25 years of working directly with women and men who struggle with complicated and painful relationships with food and their experience of their body.  I have gained valuable insights into the many approaches required for healing this painful relationship.

As a woman of size, I bring another component of understanding and sensitivity to my work with clients. I deeply value the Size Acceptance Movement and the Health At Every Size® principles (paradigm). It is important to learn to love yourself and to accept your body no matter what size it is and to not put off living your life until you “fit-in” just right. When people of size receive respect and acceptance it supports all of us to feel better about ourselves!

I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with a private practice in San Francisco, California.  I have extensive experience facilitating groups and workshops for women, men and couples and have spent years exploring how the ways we hold the image of our body is directly connected to the ways we experience our inner self.  I also work with people struggling with relationships, codependency, grief, loss and career dissatisfaction.
